HCCYL Suspending Activities Until Fall 2020

These are very unprecedented times for our country and HCCYL-Little League. The COVID-19 virus threat has impacted many aspects of our daily lives...school, work, recreation, and now our favorite pastime...baseball.

The Board of Directors of HCCYL-Little League made a decision Wednesday March 18, 2020 to indefinitely suspend the Spring 2020 season. Little League International, Inc. had issued several bulletins on how local leagues around the country should respond to the ever increasing COVID-19 threat. On Monday, March 9, a new bulletin was issued to suspend activities until May 11.

The news of the recent suspension by Little League International severely impacts the ability of our local league to deliver the youth program within the same time frame we have all become accustomed to. A delay of this magnitude impedes on our ability to have the minimum 12 game season that our players sign up for as well as you, the parents, pay for. Without having a crystal ball and making the assumption that things may get worse before it gets better, the best decision to be made at this time was to suspend our entire season.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. We have began preparing for this fall season! We plan to have a full Fall season, where we customarily have a short version of the spring. We are continuing to make the improvements to the facility from the damages caused by the January tornadoes. We also have another trick up our sleeve, working with a partner that will remain nameless for the time begin, to make a huge improvement in our park. Details to come!

We want to thank each of you for signing up to play this Spring. We will be working hard over the next week to provide full refunds to each of you that signed up. We will also contact each of the sponsors that so graciously donated to our organization for this Spring Season to make arrangements for a full refund or to reserve a team sponsorship in the Fall.

We will not let COVID-19 knock us down. We hope to see each of you again very soon this Fall!
